Malcolm Tibbets Segmented turning
Segmented woodturning is an art form with few limitations. By combining components, I can create just about any shape or size and by arranging different wood species, I can create just about any type of surface design. There are few art forms with this much freedom. This lack of restriction keeps my mind engaged contemplating the possibilities. Long before I have finished one piece, my mind is busy designing and solving the technical challenges of my next
project. I have always loved working with wood and this art form gives me the opportunity to work with woods from around the world. It thereby gives me the opportunity to share these wonderful materials with many people. Beautiful wood is almost a magical substance; gallery visitors experience an uncontrollable urge to touch the surfaces that I have created using these treasures of nature. Many designs require innovative assembly solutions, much like puzzle solving; and just like the joy of solving a puzzle, there is great joy in inventing assembly techniques. I do what I do because “it’s fun” – the designing, the joy of working with wood, the puzzle solving, and the inter-action with other people.

Computer Numerical Control Woodworking and Turning
Gershon Elber
Introduction
For several decades, the use of computers for precise machining of metal parts has been a common practice in all the car, ship and aeronautic industries. In recent years, this computer numerical control (CNC) technology was also introduced into commercial wood working shops. This article examines the use of CNC technology for home – hobby purposes, mostly in the context of wood working and turning.

A quick bio on JoHannes
I am JoHannes Michelsen creator of these marvels of wood turning, and I would like to share with you the things that make these hats so amazing. The original concept came to me in early 1980, it took 10 years of mulling it over in my head before I made the first hat and put it on my head. Hat #1 was made for the occasion of Albert and Tina Lecoffs wedding in 1990. So well received they were a powerful force that took over my artistic output, I have since made almost nothing but hats. Over the years I have developed many devices and techniques to ever improve the art form all of which I share freely and fully at my demonstrations and workshops.
